"In an interesting move, it seems Shapiro may be trying to win over coaster enthusiast’s hearts and doing the right thing with the current renovation on Shockwave. From what I’ve been told this is just the first phase in a 3-5 year plan to completely renovate and fix up the track on the 30-year-old coaster to ensure that future guests will be able to continue to enjoy it years from now. From what I’ve been told a similar plan has also been approved for Demon at Six Flags Great America."
I myself think this is an excellent idea. I rode the Shockwave at SFOT and it's an incredible coaster. I'm also very excited about the idea of Demon being renovated with the old scenery brought back and new trains. Hopefully they don't screw it up like they did with Revolution at SFMM.
I think he's stupid for renovating Demon. If Shockwave is popular, than I agree with that decision. I don't believe Demon is that popular to do this to it. It doesn't make much sense. You would do that to a ride that has always been popular, and always has a line like Space Mountain, or Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disney.
For a ride like Demon, you would dump it, and get a new coaster. I personally hope they wouldn't dump it, but if they were a smart business person, that's what they should do in the coming future instead of retracking it. It's a walkon ride!
Yet, they have problems with a lot stuff at our park. How much money is Whizzer costing the park every year due to the fact that it's hard to get parts for it anymore? Iron Wolf is a mess. It's another walk-on ride. They have been having problems with Fiddler's Fling this past year. It's an old ride. However, they dump Deja which doesn't have these other problems. Yes, it has closure problems, but people like it still.
Demon isn't popular in the "more thrilling coaster enthusiast world" but rather for families and people who just spend the day there. It is also a good family (rough) ride.
