Title: Weight Loss...
Description: NEED HELP NOW

CoasterAndrew15 - March 28, 2008 11:18 PM (GMT)
I stopped running track Freshman year. I was just bored of it. Like a dumbass, I just stopped exercising in general. I was weighed right before my final sprint at 233, almost all muscle. Back then I could run for miles without breaking a sweat. I got up today, attempting to get back in shape. I figured I might be 250-260 pounds. When I stepped on the scale today, I nearly died....296!!!! I immediately tried to run, and couldn't get farther than a 1/4 mile. My biggest fear though, is not being able to fit into some rides at GAm. I need to lose weight RIGHT NOW!

So....any suggestions?

First of all....start eating more healthy is one thing. Second, don't rush yourself. Start by doing smaller excises and smaller amounts than gradually get more excercise time in and run longer distances. It might help doing it that way.

One thing I am trying to do is drink water with meals and almost every time I eat. Drinking things without calories will help a lot. If you drink juice, milk and soda, you're just giving yourself more calories. Building muscle is good too! The more muscle you have, the more fat you will burn. It will make you have a higher metabolism. I'm in the same boat as you, Andrew. I want (and need) to lose weight too. But if you lose it too fast, you'll be more likely to gain it back right away. I joined Snap Fitness and I do an equal amount of weight lifting and either the tredmill or the bike. Just start slowly. Run for what you can and don't push yourself too hard. Over time, you'll be able to run miles again.

Got an earfull from a dietician....

They want me to go down to 217 pounds (or 79 pounds). But, I'm not to exercise until i'm less than 280 because they say I could damage my knees. And they want me to document it. So for the forseeable future.

No Soda. Not even Diet.
No more Ho-Ho's Cupcakes, Pie, Chocolate, or any candy bar whatsoever.
Only fat that comes from meat (ex: Chicken, Tuna)
Tons of Protein.
Drink between 64 and 128 oz of water a day.
No potatoes
Only whole grain bread/cereal
Only wheat pasta
No Fried foods...(goodbye chicken, pizza)
At least 3 fruits and 3 vegetables a day.

They said I may lose a ton of weight early on if I stick to this, so pretty soon I'll be able to exercise. I'm to be 217 by September they said. That seems kinda quick to me but whatever, i'm not a dietician.

So...goodbye junk food in all it's forms!

Cut Fast food if you do eat it and stop drinking pop you will see the difference quick.

I first lost a lot of weight by only having so many calories. Calories is what it is about. You should only have so many calories per day, and if the less calories you have, the more weight you will lose. However, there is a limit to how many calories you shouldn't have. You should have 1300 caloires a day, and you will lose weight. Since, you are a little heavier, you could have 1500 a day, and still lose weight. When you weigh more, your body needs more calories. That's what I have been doing for awhile.

Than, sometimes you just don't care about counting nothing, and you just eat what you want on someday's, and it's annoying as heck. So, along with still counting calories, I started to listen to this show which has really helped me when I'm bored, or stressed.

__________________________________
This really works. I heard this from a show on tv. I'm NOT kidding. I'm losing more weight now because of it.

Do this diet:
1) Eat what you want.
2) Eat when you are hungry.
3) Eat conciously. He says to put your fork down. Don't eat near the tv, or computer. I actually still count calories, but that's the point. Listen to your stomach! When your stomach says to stop eating, stop. Don't think about it. Eat your food slow because it takes 20 minutes until your body sends a signal that you are full.
4) Stop eating when you are full. Full means that you aren't hungry. It doesn't mean when you are stuffed like you just ate a buffet.

The most important tips that have helped me is this:
Stop eating when you are stressed or bored. He says to do a technique. This is when you feel a need to eat when you are stressed, or bored but you aren't hungry at all! Do this. Those mini eggs were tempting me, but I didn't feel I needed them.

1) Tap your forehead with your hand (10 times).
2) Tap your chest near collarbone (10 times).
3) Tap your arm right before the fingers (10 times).
4) Tap your your arm underneath before the fingers (10 times), and close your eyes at the same.
5) Than you need to roll your eyes a couple times.
6) Than you hum a song for a 5 seconds or so. Make it up in your mind.
7) Than you count (He says outloud.), but I only count internally 1 to 5.
8) Than hum that same song again, and you are done.

He says it helps with the acupuncture in your body at those key parts. Also, think about this if you are bored, or stressed. Why eat? Is it really going to help at all. You are bored, and you eat pizza which takes me hardly anytime to eat. Let's say 3 minutes for a pizza. It's not going to make me less bored at all. It's just adding calories to your body.

He says that starving technique doesn't work because you will just eat a lot of food later. I agree with that. Also, eat food what you like because what you will do is go back to the other foods that you like when you are done with the diet, and you will gain the weight again because you didn't teach yourself how to lose weight.

For cravings like I have a craving for chocolate brownie. That looks so good. Imagine that they brownie is filled with crickets, or is in a garbage dump. Eat the brownie with those things, and you don't want to eat it anymore. Imagination will help you fight the cravings. A lady used to eat 40 lbs of chocolate a week. Now, she eats non of it because she imagines the chocolate isn't so good. However, she can reverse, and eat it a little.

This is a show on TLC called I can Make you Thin. This is working for me, and I thought other people should know. If you want to watch it, go ahead.

It's the excessive food we eat that makes us gain weight. It's after we are full that we gain weight, and not before. We use food as a cure to our problems, and it doesn't cure problems!!

You want to eat healthy, and I know I couldn't take it! I can't resist those chocolate cookies if they are staring me in the eye if I'm forced to eat something I don't like.

If you want to know about calories in food, and go that way, go to these sites. They will help you tell you how many calories are in food. A pound to lose is 3500 calories, a lighter person would burn about 2000 calories a day. So, if you are eating 1300 calories, that means you are burning 700 calories a day, and that's 4900 after 7 days which is a pound and a half. However, you have more weight, and you should burn 2500 calories, and thus it's a lot more calories you are burning. For the other approach, you don't have to worry about calories.

http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/item/20.html

For the first approach, I have lost a good portion. It took many months to do so though. For the second approach, in one week I have lost maybe 4 lbs. I don't feel the need to eat when I'm stressed or bored. It's like why should I eat??? For the second technique though, I still count the calories. I had a huge salad, and I didn't stop eating. That's because I knew how many calories were in that salad, and I didn't need too. I eat what I want as I always did. I eat conciously in relation to calories instead of when my body is full. When I'm full, I don't eat anymore. Most importantly, stress or boredom was my problem, and eating is not a problem. That popcorn looks great near the microwave, but who cares about it until the next day when I don't have enough calories.

I feel sorry for you if you have to eat 3 fruits a day.

I swear to God that this is not a joke either about the stuff I wrote. The date is still March 31!

Well, I decided as part of my return to this site, might as well open up a few old topics : ).

Anyway yeah, I'm down to about 245. My body type is always going to keep me at my lowest about 200 lbs. I've completely cut soda out of my diet, and am still trying real hard to get fast food out of my diet. I'm no longer the runner I once was but I can still sprint and walk long after my mp3 runs out of juice. Good luck to me and to all of you needed to shed some more flab!

Either my metabolism kicked in within the last 2 or so years, or I've got worms or something.

Got my license weighing 210 back in 12/07 and I'm down to 180 as of today. I don't exercise, I eat McShit almost daily because of work, and I'm still a soda addict.

I don't get it... but I'm not complaining.

Now that I think about it, I usually only eat one or two meals a day and snack lightly in-between (not counting the soda intake); plus at work I'm on my feet all the time. That might have something to do with it.

Back when I was a freshman, I used weight around 220. But Later during that year, I gained very fast in months and by spring, I ALMOST WEIGHT 300. Then I realize that I not healthy anymore so I went back exercising. Within those few months, I loss about 40-50 pounds. During the summer of this year, I weight about 250. But later gained weight from 250 to 260-270.

About eating healthy, you need to watch what you are eating. If during Christmas, Thanksgiving or whatever you can eat all you want. When I eat breakfast, I eat cereal and a breakfast sandwich. (This is only when there's school.) I being my own Lunch to school because the food there are usually try to be "healthy." For example, The pizzas at school are used WHEAT on their pizza (NO JOKE) and sometimes they WON't let you a second sandwich on your plate. I bring a sandwich with Turkey, Ham, and Mayos, Chips, 2 Bars, and Fruit Cup or Pudding. So if you want to get the hack out of the cafeteria stuff, you need to bring your lunch IF you are still in school.
For Dinner, my Mom makes something or I have to make something myself. My Mom usually makes something big like Chicken, Pork Tenderloin, Chicken Casserole, or anything. When I eat something healthy, I usually eat the big stuff and not get more.
Sometimes we order Pizza or Chinese Food. For Pizza I usually get a stuffed pizza with Peperoni and Canadian Bacon and the size would be a medium. I eat about 2-3 Pieces.
For Chinese, I usually eat Eggfoo Young, Rice, and Sweet and Sour Chicken (Chinese Chicken Nuggets) I don't eat more after that.

For exercising, I have a class called Electives PE. This class I take is every other day. This is because of Block Scheduling. I usually use the treadmill and watch ESPN. I go about 3 MPH and make the treadmill have hill mode. I use the highest hill I use. This gets me more calories burned. I use it about 15-20 Minutes. I usually burn about 400 Calories. When I'm at home, I sometimes use the indoor bike in the living room to exercise with. I usually watch a movie or something.

I wish you best of luck on your weight loss endeavor!
I am a weight lifter and depending when you catch me I am either 270 or 300 Lbs. and I would be glad to answer any exercise questions you may have.
A lot of weight problems depend on your age, genetics, lifestyle.
Most importantly have you had a physical from your Doctor? You should express your desire to lose weight to him/her. During the blood tests they can determine Thyroid levels which regulate your metabolism and change depending upon stress, diet even time of year. You may have a sluggish Thyroid. Sometimes it goes the otherway and becomes overactive. Underactive (hypo) Thyroid is better than overactive (hyper) You may be chunkier with hypothyroidism, but your eyes won't bug out from Graves disease.
In any event, check with your MD before you do anything.

I just got the Wii Fit for Christmas and I love this thing. For Weight Loss, It tells me what I weight. For anybody who has this game, should I trust with this thing weighting myself?
But its really helping me a lot to lose wight.

I've heard the Wii fit is fairly accurate, but if you're looking to actually document weight loss and are serious about it, I would use an actual scale and also do other exercises besides that. What would make me suspect of that though is that blip on what looks like January 10th. Considering the otherwise fairly constant loss, that one datum is an error.

I also need to try to lose some weight. I'm sticking around 260 and I would like to be below 250. I've had minor issues with rides at SFGAm at my current size, but I would like this to not be an issue. What worries me though is if I go to another park, I want to make sure I can ride all the rides I can. When I was at CP about 4 years ago, I was around 220 and nearly didn't fit on TTD. I've tried being more active and eating a little better, but it's hard to do both of those in college. In addition to that, my course work keeps me very occupied and I have little time to do anything else besides homework and class. I'm lucky to get sleep some nights.

The big problem with eating "healthy" is that once you have lost the pounds they have lost, you are probably going to go back to the "unhealthy" food you were always eating. To me, my philosophy just eat less in order to lose weight. At Mcdonald's, let say you eat the Extra Value Meal. Instead, just have the Big Mac instead of the pop, and the French Fries. Also, another strategy is for you drink up tons of water. You body NEEDS around 2.3 liters of water NOT from food. Food is an additional water. Your body is filled with 90% of water. Tons of food have water. For instance pizza has the sauce as the water, soup is all water, salad it's the dressing, and people soak the lettuce in water, rice you soak in water, and so on.

There are flavored types of water that have 0 calories like Sparkling Water, Vitamin Water has like 25 calories (which is nothing), or put lemon in your water.

I want to thank the V2 crew from awhile ago because I seen they had water, and than someone had a packet of some substance, and they were putting in their water. At the time, I was thinking that stuff probably doesn't taste good at all. However, I just went to the store, and bought that stuff. It's called Crystal Light powered drink. You can find it at Jewel, or Dominick's. Dominicks has many more flavors though. This drink mix comes in Strawberry Banana, Ruby Red Grapefruit, Lemonade, Wild Strawberry, and so on. It's like 10 calories only compared to a Coke can which is 120 calories for a 12 oz.
