Title: What the heck is this thing??

superbleachbrothers - July 8, 2008 09:13 PM (GMT)
When I went to SFGAm yesterday, Superman: Ultimate Flight now gives you those littles papers that has the Deja Vu logo in it. When you get to the stairs, a staff takes it away from you. But I hid it that no one can't see it. So what the hell is this?

Boarding pass, that particular one leftover from when DejaVu was new.

^Why don't they use Superman UF ones then?

^Six Flags is cheap.

Theres boxes among boxes of those stored in Shuttle (and plenty of extra DejaVu ones), they probably ran out of generic ones and said what the hell we have nothing to do with these...either that or someone was trying to be funny.

What really wouldve been funny is if they went to Chubasco's maintenence room and got the old DejaVu or Shockwave ticket box.

With all of Six Flags and Great America's problems we are worring about boarding passes. People at .95 a share it's getting closer and closer to the end. Look at a trip report from Friday perfect day longest wait 20 minutes, most coasters walkons. This is not September it's July what does this tell you. A very reliable source has informed me Great Adventure, Both Texas Parks, Magic Mountain are up attendence per last year. Shapiro was at Great Escape proclaiming how happy guests are with that park. Major new ride for next year and longer hours plus a Christmas Celebration. Now let's look at Great America shorter hours Frightfest now closing at 8 on Sundays. Shows which just started June 30th. Hurricane Harbor opening later for daily operation plus shorter hours. So when my friend who is in the industry asks me why are Great America's number down I have 100 different reasons I could give. Funny how Great America is located with a population base of over 25 million people and Gurnee Mills Illinois biggest tourist attraction yet, why isn't Shapiro here??? Why has no major attaction been anounced yet for Great America??? Why with the perfect draw has Great america yet to hold a Holiday In The Park??? I wouldn't worry about De Ja Vu boarding passes I worry about the very future of this park.

Shapiro lies through his teeth. Why are the Texas parks up? This is a very easy thing to answer. The weather was horrible last year. So, it has to go up. The parking is scaring people away at Great America. That's what in my opinion is what it comes down to. Also, the music is just terrible this year in the park. You have the same songs on 20 times a day, and it gives me a headache.

If you want to know more about it, read this:

For the investor dude, he bought everything he could. He ate in the park, he bought $25 parking, he spent a lot of money on games, got the art thing, and so on. He could have ate at Burger King across the street, paid $15 parking, and forget the other garbage.

All I know is that we need massive overhauls from the top down, from upper management to middle management to policy and operation. Remember people, that just $12k will get you 100000 votes and a .1% stake in the company. Do they have voting pref'd shares?

whats the deal with the boarding pass was it like a rain check or something? and do all of the coasters give them out or was this like a one time thing. And seriously if Six Flags wants to cut spending doing something like this would be my first step!

Boarding passes prevented line jumping. You got a numbered ticket and if you were out of sequential order by X amount of number when you got to the platform you got a nice confrontation by security.

I saw the post about Texas parks and some of the problems at our park in the last years. I agree that when the music is constantly interrupted by comeercials and announcements it becomes annoying. There was a year at the Harbor where either the music wasn't on or was too low or was constantly being used to announce shows, etc. But last year (2009) it seemed o.k.
Texas is a booming state. Their unemployment rate (actual) is around four percent whereas Illinois (actual) is about 17%. There are very minimal sales taxes and property taxes and no state income tax (like Nevada) The cost of living versus wages is significantly better than here. Plus, they benefit from warmer weather, longer operating seasons. So I could see why that park would do much better.
It's a pro business climate there as well. Not like here where you're regulated, fee'd, taxed and licensed to death. I have seriously considered moving there and still may if things don't improve here within the next 12-24 months.

Over the summer a group of 6 decided to leave the line, so the guys at front had to see the people behind us, so that was fun. not.

The boarding pass box thing at the Dark Knight which is for these passes giving them out, they left the Deja Vu colors on it before. It was the old Deja Vu boarding pass box. Recently, they changed them to the Dark Knight colors.

To me, before boarding passes weren't worth the money to have them in the lines. (So, you had 3 people cut. Big deal.) This is because you needed someone at the entrance of the line (Now, they have them to police the line because they want money for lockers), and you needed someone to collect them. Recently, I think the Flash Pass person just collects them. Now, it would NOT be more money (more employees) because you have those people there anyway.
