Title: Golden Ticket Awards Out Today
Luxornv - September 11, 2009 09:29 PM (GMT)
A full list of stuff can be seen here:
http://www.amusementtoday.com/corndog/2009GTAissue.pdfSome highlights related to SFGAm:
Holiday World is the cleanest park. SFGAm's campaign for the cleanest park in the world failed. Maybe now they will stop playing that damn song.
A few coasters have also taken some top spots. On the steel list, Raging Bull gets #14 and Whizzer squeaks in at #47. SFGAm is also represented with Viper at #30 on the wooden list.
I am surprised SFGAm PR is not using that in any advertising. I didn't even see it on the Facebook page. If I had not checked the list myself, I would not know that. They should seriously let the GP know this so the GP actually feels like there are some good coasters at SFGAm. Maybe it will quench some of the people complaining for a new coaster for a little while.

I knew that SFGAm wasn't going to get the Golden Ticket for the cleanest park.

The whole "Cleanest Park" thing at SFGAm is just a marketing gimmick, the general public will not really notice or care about if they win the Golden Ticket for cleanest park.

I suppose by "In the world," they were striving for in the chain because they won the award for that and a few other categories.

Do they take volume into consideration when these things are tallied up?
When you consider the amount of people (some of whom have no manners whatsoever) going through the park at SFGA just throwing things down on the ground and being pigs, I think SFGA does a spectacular job of keeping things clean. Even the restrooms and parking areas are clean. I haven't even seen wrappers and debris on the train/coaster cars there which is remarkable. I remember other parks I've been to and there was garbage everywhere.
It sure wouldn't be fair to compare SFGA to a park with half the volume.

They need better paths at the park, I wish all the paths were cement, and not asphalt!

Concrete is very expensive compared to asphalt. From their point, why pay so much more for something when you can get the same thing for much less? Though concrete is lower maintenance than asphalt and doesn't need to be replaced as often.
