Seeing as it would be one of the last opportunities this season to go (with a promise of a Halloween weekend trip that never materialized :disappointed: ), I decided to make an excursion to Six Flags a few Fridays ago with my dad and brother. I was told that we would only be able to stay til about 9p (I'm still a teenager here, just a soph in HS), so it would be a pretty intense run; no effing around.
So, after getting home from school at 4p, we set out from Failtown (guess where; no really) at 4:45 ('rents love putzing around), and after a stop at a hole-in-the-wall on Washington, we got to the park at 5:30. I got my tickets, then we managed to drive around the employee lot into the regular parking, and got a primo spot. We finally made our way into the park around 6. We decided to go around in a circle up the right, so first stop was Hometown Square. We went on the Orbit, one of my favorite flats. On it, I got to see one of my employee friends, not to mention one of his buds, who, to my shock, was someone that went to my elementary school, and I hadn't seen her in 5 years! We had quite a conversation as we headed out of the queue.
Southwest Territory was next (so, not quite a circle). We got to the Viper, and waited around 15 minutes, because someone threw up. My brother managed to muster up the courage to go on Viper (he's a coasterphobe, as am I). He was scared s---less, but incredibly ecstatic about the ride, so we went on again.
Following that, we left the line and I suggested Demon, but he wasn't too enthused, as he wasn't into loops. I was not going on Raging Bull (I already did a thread on that), so we decided to head up. We passed on Eagle, as we didn't see any trains for like 10 minutes, so we decided to hit Revolution. Again, he passed, as it was running a little bit more intense than usual. We then went to Iron Wolf. My brother waited on the platform, and my dad and I got into front row (no lines = AWESOME!), myself in the left to lean into the turns, my dad in the seat next to me. My god.... amazing. It wasn't painful at all on that run. Just.... ecstacy. My dad then got off to supervise my bro (big ups to the ride ops) as I gave it one more ride.
I got off, and suggested that my brother try Spaceley's to get the feel of a steel coaster. That thing packs a punch, I must say. It's not at all scary, but the turns are decent. After that, he was stoked to try the Demon, but we had quite a ways to go before that, so we headed down into Yankee Harbor. I already saw the haunted houses at Preview Night, and it was nothing special, so we skipped them over.
My dad had to take his first smoke break of the night, so as he did, I led my brother to the Whirligig, and we rode that thing 5 times. It's nowhere near the Wave Swinger at Navy Pier, but still fun. After his smoke, we went on Batman (minus the bro). My dad says that's more intense than Raging Bull (any input on this?) but I'm not inclined to believe him. We then went to V2. I declined. Of course. Following that, we went down to Rajin' Cajun and waited 20 minutes needlessly for that crappy ride. Ugh.
So I finally got to King Chaos and tested out the new pattern for FF. Es fenomenal! So much more intense than the old pattern.... why can't we have it all season? Following that, we went over to Epic Disappointment. Got to see Eckhart's face on the TV screen, but in the after-queue? 45 minutes, because.... puke. Again. Variations on a theme.
I got a ride in the 8th row on Superman. Best. Coaster. Ever.
We decided to hit all the things we missed, like a ride on Whizzer (meh) and Eagle (I declined; too tired). Heading back down, my dad took a smoke break right up by the Skeeball place. I then saw.... the grave of Splashwater Falls. It brought a tear to my eye, the memories I had on that ride.... Was that where the entrance was located. I hadn't been on the thing in like 10 years, so I couldn't tell. If anyone can get me pics of what it looks like now or maybe direct me to what it looked like then, that would be appreciated. But I digress.
We then hit Viper twice more, then Demon twice. My brother was entranced. He says it's his new favorite coaster. I got a headache (darn corkscrews). Anyway, we headed out around 11 (nice change in plans), then headed home dog tired. Good thing I didn't have to get up early.
So I had a great night. Sure, I hate the changes, but I still got a coaster count of like 15 (I don't even want to count), and I got to ride the good stuff AT NIGHT! I couldn't have thought of a better way to spend a Friday night. I wish I would have gone on Bull and V2, because I've got no more chances to do so, and those would have been great warmups for SheiKra and Rock n' Rollercoaster when I head down to Florida this Christmas break. I am stoked for Busch Gardens. Hells yeah!
9.5/10.

I think the G forces are much more intense on Batman than the bull.

| No pics... |
No pics indeed. I have but a dinky little camera phone (which has since been replaced with a shiny new Nokia E71x with 3.2MP. I went again on 1 November and got some pics, but haven't moved them off.
