Title: Another Water Park Gone!
Description: Bankruptcies Abound

Tiki - December 31, 2009 06:44 AM (GMT)
Less than two weeks since Sheraton CoCo Key and Dave Andersons Key Lime Cove filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection, another waterpark SplasH2O in Hoffmann Estates was foreclosed upon by lenders today.
This is a grave situation for people like us who love amusement parks. Kiddieland gone. Great America and Hurricane Harbor in bankruptcy. We are facing extinction! Disney is facing some serious hardships in both it's amusement parks and especially it's cruise lines.
Does anyone here have any information on the financial health of Magic Waters near Rockford?

Please keep threads not directly-related to Great America in the General section. Thanks!

Great America isn't going anywhere. We are the ones that are killing the rest. :)
If we didn't have Hurricane Harbor, then I could see us failing, but an expansion there, and the Magic Waters is in serious jeopardy. I think Buccaneer Battle would have served much better as a HH expansion, than a normal expansion, this way the park could boast a new ride, a new store, an expansion. All that stuff, but this is just...There.

I agree David.
I thought Bucaneer Battle was misplaced too. But then again it opens with the park which is a month earlier than Hurricane Harbor opens, so I guess it's a good teaser.
Is Magic Waters having troubles too? I liked that place, but it's just too far from the beaten path. I don't know who their market is but it is sure harder to get to from Chicago then Hurricane Harbor is.
