So, do you like miniature golf, or not? Where is your favorite miniature golf place, and what are your memories if you have any?
Along time ago, my favorite miniature golf place was actually right in back of Kiddieland. I really like that one. It had unique holes, and it had a pond at the end of gold fish. It was cool, but than it closed down, and a gas station, and a car wash came in. This was before the economy thing though.
So, right now my favorite miniature golf is called Novelty Golf in Lincolnwood, IL. It has all the cool gadgets, and different holes. For some holes, you step on a peddle that operates the motion in the hold. This place has statues of T-Rex / Brontosaurus, Sears Tower, Statue of Liberty, a hot blonde Mermaid, the Dum Dum guy from a Night in the Museum (He's not really the Dum Dum guy trademark, but the same guy), and more.
My second favorite is probably Par -King in Lincolnshire, IL. Lincolnshire, IL, and Lincolnwood, IL aren't the same town. They are different. For Par-King, they also have statues, theme from Alice in Wonderland, plastic fish, Mount Rushmoore, Teepee, an alligator, pinball, Trumpet Player Soldier, turtle, and so on. They have 2 plastic roller coasters the ball goes through - one wooden, and one upside down. The roller coasters are on two different courses though! The only problem I have with this place is that they have a black course, and another course. For the black course, they say you can only have 2 people on which to me is idiotic.
If you have 4 people, and they want to play both courses, they would get a whole lot more money, but these people say well who cares about them, and say you can only play the other course. The black course to me is the better one, and has the wooden roller coaster. I like the looping coaster better (Well, I like loopers better than wooden coasters anyway.), but to me overall the black 2 people course is the better one.
I have built obstacles and courses for several mini golf places. I must have the magic touch since they all went belly up!
But some of the courses and obstacles are still in circulation. One is a portable that RAH Entertainment (www.recordahit.com)uses.
Hey, that's pretty cool you did / do that.^
The kind of mini-golf courses I don't really like are the ones that are flat, and don't have any special stuff to them - Special stuff = alot of moving objects, houses the ball goes through, and it goes through a pipe, and such. For instance, there was a mini-golf course across from Six Flags Great America that is a glow in the dark place Rocky's Funhouse (It moved in Waukegan more now though!), and that one just I thought stunk pretty much. It's not because it's inside, but there is just nothing to it. All it has going for it is black lights, but otherwise to me it's not worth it.
If anyone likes Mini-Golf courses, the ones I recommend (ALL of them not just my absolute favorite like I said) in IL I've been to are: (I've already told you about Par-King, and Novelty Golf so I won't relist them.)
-Roselle, IL Brunswick Zone - Yes it is a bowling alley, but it has a mini-golf outside. They even have a bowling pin hole. Yes, it's hard as anything, but I enjoy it.
-Haunted Trails in Burbank, IL - It's a spooky type of golf. There is one in Joliet - Haunted Trails that is, but I looked at it, and it didn't look that great. I was in Joliet for another reason - passing by that place.
-Enchanted Castle in Lombard, IL - This one only is 9 holes, but it's good.
-Holes and Knolls in Glen Ellyn, IL - This place is more of the hilly type of place than objects and moving parts. In this course, it is very easy to get your ball in the water (not on purpose) which is a different type of thing, and I enjoy. I like red side better than blue.
I have a shitty one by my house called Cozi's/JJ Twigs. Used to be decent, but they stopped running the waterfalls and let the course rot so I stopped going. There's a good place up in Wood Dale (I think) at the Salt Creek Driving Range
