Title: Food
Description: What do you do?

the_franchise - April 20, 2006 01:32 AM (GMT)
What do you usually do for food in the park? Go out to your car or eat in the park? If you eat in the park, where do you usually go? I usually buy Subway and leave it in a cooler in the car then around lunch time, go out there and eat. :) I'm sorry, I would rather pay $6.00 for a nice size sub then $3.00 for a soda and $6.00 more for a meal...

jonrev - April 20, 2006 01:43 AM (GMT)
I eat at the park. Large Cokes and SuperPretzels are all I need. :D

CoasterAndrew15 - April 20, 2006 01:43 AM (GMT)
Firehouse Pizza, Demon Nachos, Fiesta Fries, or just bring food in a cooler.

the_franchise - April 20, 2006 01:47 AM (GMT)
How much are fiesta fries?

CoasterAndrew15 - April 20, 2006 01:48 AM (GMT)
I think $4.25 for a large cup w/ cheese.

the_franchise - April 20, 2006 01:49 AM (GMT)
DAMN! I hope you get alot of fries with that lol

CoasterAndrew15 - April 20, 2006 01:53 AM (GMT)
Meh, It's average for SFGAm.

the_franchise - April 20, 2006 01:56 AM (GMT)
What are they though? Like cheese fries? Anyone know how much a burger is ? lol

CoasterAndrew15 - April 20, 2006 01:57 AM (GMT)
U don't have to get cheese. And I've never had a burger at GAm, never really wanted one.

the_franchise - April 20, 2006 02:01 AM (GMT)
When is the best time to get food to avoid the crowds? Best deal?

CoasterAndrew15 - April 20, 2006 02:06 AM (GMT)
Dunno the best deal (is anything at GAm a deal?), but eat at nontraditional times and lines are never too bad.

the_franchise - April 20, 2006 02:09 AM (GMT)
So like eat at about 1030 lol jk

sixflagger3211 - May 13, 2006 02:52 PM (GMT)
I usually do both. If i'm with my family and stuff, we eat Subway out in the parking lot. If i'm with my buddies, we eat at Papa John's or Mooseburger Lodge.

CoasterAndrew15 - May 13, 2006 10:28 PM (GMT)
I went to Firehouse Pizza on opening day, and had there Papa Johns Pizza, plus breadsticks. I got two slices of Pepperoni and 4 breadsticks (piping hot) for $8 and change. Pretty expensive, and they're lucky it was really good.

nalarrabee4752 - May 13, 2006 11:11 PM (GMT)
I bet if you ask for a refund they won't do it or they will look at you like "how do I do a refund"

the_franchise - May 18, 2006 03:25 AM (GMT)
lol why do u say that Nalrabbee?

Tiki - February 15, 2010 09:45 PM (GMT)
The Chicken strips and fries at HH are delicious! So is the Sundae. I gave up on the pretzels. Everytime I buy one, it's frozen in the middle.
And they gave us all a refund at the buffet in Aunt Martha's because we paid, looked, saw the food all covered in flies and decided it was just too gross to attempt a meal there.

jonrev - February 16, 2010 01:26 AM (GMT)
I have learned since my last post in this thread that walking to BK is a hell of alot smarter than eating at the park. Once in awhile the Papa Johns pizzas and Fiesta Fries with spice are worth stopping for.

amusementparknut - February 16, 2010 02:05 AM (GMT)
usually we bring food it is so expensive for so little. Something similar happened to my friends when we went to Aunt Martha's the fruit cups had rancid rotten fruit in them and the pudding was not the coldest. The Mango Italian Ice (By Revolution) is amazing, and for fright fest I prefer to eat in the park there are just too many people to try and get around just to go sit in the parking lot and eat.

Tiki - February 16, 2010 06:15 PM (GMT)
Well if you ever go to Hurricane Harbor, try the chicken strips with fries and/or the sundaes. They are reasonably priced and they are very, very good! No flies on them either, at least not that I can see and if I can't see them, then it's all good!

amusementparknut - February 18, 2010 01:38 AM (GMT)
well the other thing we have to get every year is a funnel cake with the special coupon book get a secone for 2.00 better deal than the last day of their operating schedule.

Tiki - February 18, 2010 03:42 AM (GMT)
That's right! I forgot about the funnel cake with the coupon. We had those too. They were also very good.
I can't do the pizza there. Instant heartburn. But I did get the Dippin Dots with the special coupon. And I got the souvenir cups that look like the double flotation tubes to boot! My kids ate the dots. I can't eat those. They're so cold they take the hide off my tongue.

superbleachbrothers - February 18, 2010 11:56 AM (GMT)
When I went to Cedar Point last year, I had the fucking cheapest hamburger for very price. My Hamburger tasted like my school's and the French Fries tasted like McDonalds.

SFGAm has resolved their hamburgers at Johnny Rockets. Unlike CP Hamburger's, GA grills the buns, hamburger, Onion Rings, and even French Fries!!

SFGAm has better food than CP. That's what I think.

forddude1416 - February 21, 2010 03:12 PM (GMT)
If i need a quick snack, i usually go for a funnel cake sundae. Especially when 2 years ago it was bogo with a season pass coupon.

But if i know its going to be a full long day trek there, packing a cooler is the only way to go IF you park in the 25 dollar lot. Walking all the way to the 15 dollar lot takes way too long to be worth it. I know the difference may seem negligible but i never get a spot in the front of the out lot, its always perfectly in the middle.

Now drinks in the park is something i never seem to contend with. I just cant get thirsty at the park. If i do need something to drink though a souvenir bottle really is the best ticket. 12 bucks for the thing and dollar refills makes this poor boy happy.

Jackluver19 - February 21, 2010 04:43 PM (GMT)
I either go to Aunt Martha's or Panda Express, I never leave the park to eat.

Ilovthevu' - February 21, 2010 05:08 PM (GMT)
I usually leave the park ONCE a day. The reason is because I want to get away and get refreshed. I don't want to feel trapped there. Sure, some people might stay at the park to eat, but they are the ones leaving at 8 pm, and not staying all the way till the end.

The funnel cakes (not that many times though) is about what I eat at the park though. If the park is only open to 6 pm, I won't leave, and eat after 6 pm. I do however eat something bigger in the morning.

I might leave when I go to a park like Magic Mountain, or Over Texas but it depends on what places are around there. For instance (not at those places), the times I do get to Walt Disney World, there are great places out there to me that aren't close to me in IL like Chick Fil-A, Ponderosa, and Shoney's so I definitely get out of those parks. On top of it, when you want to travel from the park at Walt Disney World, you are going to waste time anyway leaving, so what's a little bit more.

At Magic Mountain, and Over Texas I have eaten at Papa Johns, and to me the pizza is pizza and I like pizza, but I would never go there just to go there (to a Papa Johns Pizza Place). Out of all the pizzas I tried, Jack's frozen pizza (which is low on the bottom of my list) is above Papa Johns. Another time at Over Texas, I went to Hooters, and Chipotle because the hotel was on the other side of the park, and I got a shuttle to those places. Those places were after the park closed though. One time, I did Domino's too. I stayed at Over Texas like 2 or 3 nights, so you need to eat multiple days at multiple places.

Tiki - February 21, 2010 07:28 PM (GMT)
We usually don't leave the park either. When we first started going we used to pack a cooler and leave it in the van and go out to eat. We had (VIP Front) parking passes so the walk wasn't an issue. But, there are some scary drivers there and being seated beside a car in a lot full of not so great drivers can only end badly. (Mark my words, it will happen one day. Whole family squashed while tailgating.)
But worst of all is that if Hurricane Harbor reaches capacity while you're out there you may not get back in. One year they offered re-entry wrist bands to the harbor, probably because of that.
The food at the park is a bit pricey, but most of it is good. It's conveneint. And it supports the park. So we eat there.

Ilovthevu' - February 23, 2010 04:37 AM (GMT)
Sometimes, when they say Hurricane Harbor spiel, that is such a trick to get people into that waterpark. I was going to waterpark right after I went on Sky Trek Tower, and I checked right after I was in the waterpark the amount of people that are in that waterpark, and it wasn't even being close to being full. I forgot the exact figure, but it might have been like 3,000 more people that day, but yet they were announcing you better hurry up because it's going to fill blah blah.

Incase anybody doesn't know how you can check, right when you go out of the watepark, this is a rectangular box there (on the left of the exit), and it says how many people have left the waterpark, and how many people are in the waterpark at any given time. Those turnstyles are hooked up with that system. Anyone, don't always believe the park. It makes sense for the park to get people in there as they can make some money just on the lockers alone in the waterpark (much more than in the regular park).

Tiki - February 23, 2010 02:00 PM (GMT)
Well that maybe a trick to fill up the harbor, but I have been there when you couldn't go in until some people left. At the same time they say that Hurricane Harbor has reached capacity and to come back later. Although, I don't know what the benefit would be to get people in the harbor because selling a drink or whatever in another part of the park is the same as in the harbor.
As for lockers, I have never rented one and judging from all the stuff on the deck chairs, it would appear that very few people rent lockers there anyway.
They seem to be closing the harbor earlier this year too. So if it reaches capacity at 3:00PM (which is usually about the time that happens.) You may not get a chance to go in at all that day. So we always show up at the opening.

Ilovthevu' - February 24, 2010 05:13 PM (GMT)
You have to be careful about leaving your stuff out. My brother had a Pirate's of Carribean shirt laying out, and someone stold it. Also, another time there was this kid who said to his father, hey look what I found. I forgot what it was, but the kid was a thief, and the father didn't say take it back.

More often than not, I'll wear more junky shirts, or shirts without logos (unlike football teams) when I go to Hurricane Harbor. No wants a more faded shirt to steal. It seems like I was at another waterpark, and someone stole my towel. I think it was a Cubs towel maybe. At the time I liked the Cubs.

The problem with those lockers is that they are not reasonable priced at all. You go Magic Waters, and you don't mind paying $7, and than if you return something, you get $2 back. That's what Six Flags should do, but nope they rather get some people to use the lockers, and the rest of the people to take the chance.

To me, Six Flags needs more "real" security. You need the security with the guns, and handcuffs in the park. Instead, I think these thieves aren't scared of the Six Flags security. I do see maybe 1 or 2 "real" police in the park once in awhile, but you need much more than that. Forget the fake security. Maybe, the checkpoints can stay the "fake" security, but they need more real police.

I wish Aunt Martha's Buffet was renamed to:

Aunt martha's not unlimited pay alot for something that tastes's like crap buffet.

That's easy to put on the sign.

Tiki - February 25, 2010 12:59 PM (GMT)
You know that used to be "THE place" to eat at Great America way back when.

I think it's worth the money. Those mashers are pretty good

Tiki - February 25, 2010 11:27 PM (GMT)
It always smells good when we pass by, but after the buffet/flies incident, I just don't eat there. If they just hid the food so I couldn't see the flies doing their regurgitation dance on it, I would probably eat there.

It might have just been 1 bad experience

Tiki - February 26, 2010 01:24 PM (GMT)
You're right. I should try it again. Maybe we'll eat there on OD.

Demon_10 - February 26, 2010 10:42 PM (GMT)
^And I can assure you, there won't be many flies in April

Tiki - February 27, 2010 02:56 PM (GMT)
You're right. I am going on OD. Mash potato's and chicken!

Demon_10 - February 27, 2010 05:07 PM (GMT)
mmm, I might have to also after I'm finished with training

Tiki - March 1, 2010 04:00 PM (GMT)
Of course if they don't send us our new passes soon, we'll be delayed in going to the park! I wonder what's holding them up this year?
