A 285 foot tall observation tower. Opened in 1977 as an original Marriott ride, it continues to be the tallest structure in Lake County.
Sky Trek Tower, the all mighty structure of Lake County, is a pleasing one. As I would like to call it, The Gentle Giant. Standing at 285 ft, this ride is a fun experience for the whole family. Once upon entering the mighty observation Gyro-Tower, all fears of heights are squeezed out as you reach the skyline of the park.
The ride itself is a pleasing experience, mysteriously related favorness as The Colombian Carousel. As you learn the landscaping and history of the park by the announcement speaker, you see the fantastic view of a whole park skyline. The ride on the other hand would have been way better if actually built in the middle of the park, but the sight is still fantastic.
The theming of course is mostly generic and Americana, but some may feel that the ride is also a sort of fair/carnival theme. This is all I can say for theming, as the ride is not that heavily themed.
Overall, I give the ride a 7.5/10. The only thing that stops the ride from being one of the best is it is not built in the middle of the park. Also the fact that the ride isn't themed much, but I don't really care about that subject.
The ride is okay once a day. More than that for me, is pushing it. It is fun when I'm on it a little bit though. You can see where the people are, and what rides are operating from the sky.
7/10
Hell I could do this ride over and over I absolutely love it. The feeling of floating over everyone and seeing everything is GREAT!! My most number of rides on this in a single day is about 5 or 6. Also since they do not have the chair lifts anymore this is the best way to get aerial shots of the rides. And to the above person who thought this should have been in the middle of the park: I don't think they wanted to put it there for the mere fact that with expansion and coasters they would have had to 1 Demolish it or 2 relocate it.
