Title: New Batman Coaster Coming To Orleans Place

Ilovthevu' - September 27, 2007 01:30 PM (GMT)
It's on the website about the Batman themed Mack roller coaster.

http://www.sixflags.com/greatAmerica/rides...ghtCoaster.aspx

Yeah! We are supposedly getting a non-spinning mouse coaster. Forget, RC. This is going to be so much better.

SkyRideTravis - September 27, 2007 09:23 PM (GMT)
Seems odd to put it in Orleans Place, since there is already a mouse in that area (sorry, Mardi Gras is hardly a separate area.) I wonder where it will go. I guess it could fit where Rue Le Dodge or Condor is now, or possibly the theater next to Superman's entrance. But I can't think of anywhere where we won't lose a ride we have now, and I don't think they would sacrifice one of the few live entertainment venues. Its unfortunate that they couldn't find anywhere to shoehorn it in by Batman, though. Yankee Harbor's theme has already been slaughtered. I don't like that Orlean's is being messed up even more, Superman threw off that theme enough on its own.

Also I wonder if Deja Vu will be around next season. Georgia is getting rid of theirs for Thomas Town.

Ilovthevu' - September 27, 2007 09:46 PM (GMT)
The Deja Vu in Georgia is supposed to be sold to the overseas. I'm guessing that SF decided to sell that one because that park has hardly any room, and it's the least reliable of all of them. That one is hardly ever open as people have told me, and I have seen. These are the enthusiasts too. These aren't GP who say it's never open.

If you look at this: http://maps.live.com/, and go to birds eye view (buildings), you will get a good look at the land near the theater. I don't really care if they dump that theater at all, but yet it looks like they could fit it around it.

Yet, I could see Rue Le Dodge, and Condor going considering that with that road, they could probably fit it.

However, the marker was to the right of the Superman line. It's right by the Coca-Cola truck near the road. So, that tells me it's in that vicinity instead of by the Condor, and Rue Le Dodge.

You never know. There could be more additions on the way such as flat rides. Today, they didn't mention any flat rides being added, and that could still be a possibility.

CoasterAndrew15 - September 27, 2007 11:37 PM (GMT)
I don't know if it's possible to connect BTR's line to this or some weird configuartion and create a seperate Gotham City area, complete with a couple flats and stuff. That would be awesome.

andyvball - September 28, 2007 12:49 AM (GMT)
OK im getting sick of reading the complainers at sfgamworld (cuz i got banned a year ago) that are complaining about how small this caoster is. AT LEAST ITS A COASTER WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE THOMAS TOWN???

My only problem like stated above is location. The obvious location would be Yankee harbor but there is virtually no room unless the rumors were actually true about knocking Deja'Vu downthen they could have added a path to it but thank god they didnt. The other less obvious location would be the location it is in right now B) just route the line some how to go in Mardi Gras. This would then tie in Joker theming (clowns) to the FF clowns in mardi gras.

I also saw something interesting interesting on the MACK rides website here it says that it is able to contact water which would be an extremely cool element to the ride.

Also the ride only should cost about 2.5-3 million which would mean a LOT OF THEMEING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cant wait and on rcdb it says its due to open in may so its probably not opening the same time around the movie which is good.

viper31 - October 2, 2007 12:56 AM (GMT)
It's very good news about the new ride. Really removing Theater Royale especially since it's interior was rebuilt this past off season makes no sense. I guess we will just have to wait and see in 2008. Deja Vu leaving is just a rumor but many reliable sources say it's going to happen. So I'm preparing for either outcome next year, another wait until 2008 question, as of now just that. Will it still be standing in January only the park peope know for sure and we will see if we happen to pass the park.

andyvball - October 2, 2007 04:22 AM (GMT)
^ their not removing theatre royale its going in between s;uf's exit and theatre royale i think they might thave to take out s:uf's photo booth though

viper31 - October 17, 2007 05:28 AM (GMT)
I asked 4 different Great America Managers about Theater Royale and was told it most likely will #1 Become queing for the coaster. #2 We haven't made any final plans yet. #3 Ijust don't reaaly knw what the plan calls for. #4 the develpers are busy at work planning the theming. So I took it a bit future and let Marc Shapiro know my feeling on loosing a family friendly/weather friendly/ theater. Again all we can do is wait and see and let them know if you want the Theater Royale to stay as is.

andyvball - October 17, 2007 04:51 PM (GMT)
I never even notice that theatre royale is there so it doesnt matter to me

jonrev - October 17, 2007 09:15 PM (GMT)
Figured I'd step in before things get out of control.

Do not listen to park employees, they rarely know what's going on.

Supervisors won't tell you anything.

Do not spread rumors about the fate Theater Royale. We will all find out next year. You can wait...

...sorry, please continue.

Ilovthevu' - October 18, 2007 03:27 AM (GMT)
^I'm glad he said something like that about Theatre Royale. If it does close, people can visit it as it is this year before the park closes. If it doesn't, than it's fine that they don't have to visit it. The point is, that it may or may not be in jeopardy, and people should know about that.

If I actually cared about that Theatre, I would take pictures, videos, and maybe even watch two shows in there, or something ,but I don't.

About the Batman ride, does anyone think that this is a stupid name to call this? They have another Batman ride. What is the GP going to think? They are advertising the new Batman ride on television, and the GP might think that they just did something to the other Batman ride at the park.

Maybe, they would think that they are just putting Batman the Ride indoors. Of course, the website says where it's going, but how many of the GP really know the areas of the park?

Why not another Batman affiliated character?

viper31 - October 19, 2007 04:38 AM (GMT)
You are correct but John Curti usually can be trusted. Really only time will tell and I've already contacted Corporate Six Flags so my feeling can be heard. Since the park makes lot's of money from me I feel I can express how I feel to Six Flags. I'll tell you this NO RUMOR: Let's just say they respond quickly and are happy to hear from Guests.

andyvball - October 30, 2007 11:44 PM (GMT)
Is the theatre royale position confirmed for Dark Knight because since Dejavu is going down I think it might end there to coincide with batman and then instead of the entrance being in county fair it would be in yankee

sixflagger3211 - October 31, 2007 03:17 AM (GMT)
Is it me, or does anyone think that the Dark Nigh Coaster is going to be kind of gay? Wild mouse? It can't be that great. But I'm still looking forward to it.

Ilovthevu' - October 31, 2007 03:53 AM (GMT)
^^It says on the website that it's location is Orleans Place (rides section). It also says in the press release (news) on the website.

I believe that we may get a something for Splash Water Falls, and Deja Vu in 2009, but I really doubt it's going to be a Dive Machine. The reason is because Busch Gardens has signed a deal with B&M that other parks in North America can't have those rides until a certain year.

I think it's people wishing that we had another B&M because we have so many already. I rather take a Floorless anyway, but the main purpose of this topic is about Batman, and not what's coming out in the years to come.

I hope they have a SINGLE rider line for this ride. At SFMM, they have single rider ilnes for a few rides like Ninja, Deja Vu, and some other ride.

FRD714 - November 5, 2007 01:42 AM (GMT)
It's going to be a great coaster, and very fun on top of that. That's all I have to say about that.

The B&M contract ends in 2009. So we have a chance of one.

andyvball - November 5, 2007 09:24 PM (GMT)
^ That makes sense because if they were to use Deja Vu's space for something other than the Dive Machine they would probably add it this year but since that contract thing is almost done I think we have a good chance. I have a question can they build the Dive Machine during next years season because that would look wayy better than two open fields. I predict them making an announcement about what SF is doing in that area early next before August of next year. God I hope this rumor is true

Ilovthevu' - November 9, 2007 05:25 PM (GMT)
I don't see how the park is going to get a Dive Machine. Yes, it makes sense that they would want to connect those two areas, but at the same time, it's a really expensive machine. In the conference call, he just said that he doesn't want to put in an expensive coaster, and around the 7 million mark was around the right number. So, I say hope for something a little less expensive like a Euro Fighter. On rcdb.com, it says that the Euro-Fighter is 2.9 million. Dollywood's is a lot more because of all that theming.

Guardian 20 - November 9, 2007 11:14 PM (GMT)
i'd LOVE to see a floorless, but then again i'd assume that the B&M dive coasters can do that.

think about the area, you really cannot go 200ft up in the air and make a good enough ride.

i always thought that Sheikra and Griffon, while neat rides in and of themselves, are massively overrated. its too short of a ride, hell i think after (drop) that the V2 had a long ride time.

Still i got no thing against the ride its just a short ride. anything that feels like its less than 30 seconds from drop to brake run is too short of a ride. and while the water brake is a neat feature its not a big deal for thrills.

Galvan316 - November 12, 2007 03:38 AM (GMT)
^^

You seem to forget the 10 million dollars that is being spent on ONE rollercoaster alone, X.

andyvball - November 12, 2007 04:23 AM (GMT)
i noticed on sfgamworld in the Q3 topic the word extensively is used when describing DK's themeing hopefully it will be even more better than Batman's old ghetto theming and into a darker part of gotham.
Heres what I see them doin with the theming

1. Train Station with bunch of Graffiti and maybe even a fog machine or two as the station

2. i can see like a spinning tunnel thats in a fun house to go inside the queue which would coincide with the joker

3. A new bat suit or a big batman model somewhere throughout the area.

4. I also wonder if the building complex will have any thing on the outside that would look soooo stupid I mean even Disaster Tranpsot has that 72E or whatever it says which make it look somewhat useful on the outside. I also do not want to see a box I would again like to see something like disaster transport that is not a box.

andyvball - December 19, 2007 07:31 PM (GMT)
from Screamscape...

12/19/07) The latest information about The Dark Knight attraction confirms that Theater Royale will be used to house the themed queue for the ride. I still don’t know if this means all or just part of the theater building at this point in time. As for the storyline itself, I’ve heard that your queue experience will start with a video of Harvey Dent’s acceptance speech as the new Gotham City D.A. His speech is interrupted by The Joker who threatens the city. From here you make your way to the coaster’s loading dock where you are supposed to be taking a ride to safety. From the sound of things the ride experience itself will simply depict your journey to safety through various scenes of chaos throughout the city. Since it’s a coaster and will be moving quickly, they’re not going to try and tell a complicated story and are going mostly with audio and visual effects.

yea heath leadger blows jack nicolsin out of the water hes wayyy more evil and his laugh is great

Ilovthevu' - January 6, 2008 07:13 AM (GMT)
^^I've seen it. He doesn't look like Joker anymore. I hate those movies that everyone loves. Those are the movies that always get nominated at the Academy Awards. They are usually the dullest, and most boring movies ever.

I didn't like that first Batman movie, and I doubt that this going to get better. Usually, the sequel is worse than the first movie. There was too much of him learning to fight stuff. They didn't care about that in the other movies, and it was just perfect. He just wanted revenge. That's all the point. The scarecrow was hardly in that movie.

While we are dicussing super heroes, that Spiderman wasn't too good either. Why? They are making them all about the love story. I think Kirsten Dunst is hot as a red head, and they need her in the movie, but how many times are they going to try to make them get together. They want to marry, and than they don't want it because of some reason (I forgot.). Then, they like each other again. It's back and forth with them.

Almost every movie that was ever made has to have a romantic story to it. Look at Toy Story. They have Woody falling in love with Little Bo Peep.

Back on topic, it sounds like it's going to be Spiderman at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. People go in that first room, and there is a projector on big white screen that keeps on showing the same story plot over and over again. I imagine that's how it's going to be. To me, there's a problem with being Disney theming. If people are going 5 times to a park every year, they might get annoyed with that video over and over again. If you are going twice on that ride in a day all 5 times, that's 10 times a year you are stuck listening to that video.

It's not like those televisions that play more than one thing, and you can also can ignore them. I really doubt that this screen would be soft so you couldn't hear. You probably would have to hear it. I hate when going on Dinosaur, and they put you in this room, and you have to listen to that stupid "Secret" guy who is a guy from CSI talking about the dinosaurs over and over again. Everytime, I ride that ride, I have to listen to that garbage. I go on that ride a lot compared to other people. That's the reason I go to the Animal Kingdom. It's not because of EE.

You wonder than why Disney or Universal can do it, and people aren't annoyed. How many of those people don't go to Disney every year, or only go once a year for a week which isn't a lot of time? They have shopping, 4 theme parks, and 2 waterparks. You also can't forget about the amusement parks down there.

SFGAm can't even have the outdoor stunt shows for a very long time because people have seen it already, and people are coming every year. There are only so many people around SFGAm that come to the park. The park doesn't get the tourists to just go to the park like those Florida places. The problem is that there are too many regional parks to get tourists to any one of them. You have all the Cedar Fair parks, Busch Gardens one park (non-tourist), the smaller parks (Kennywood), and than you have Six Flags. Maybe SFGAm gets some tourists, but I don't think they get a lot.

How long has Star Tours been at MGM, and how long has Space Shuttle America been at SFGAm? You have to remember that they also changed the Space Shuttle America shows every so often (Stargate, Dinosaur, Superstition) where as Star Tours they didn't.

You wonder than why is Love at First Fright going on for 16 years (Maybe???) or something like that? Besides saying it's a good show, you have the fact that Fright Fest was ONLY 11 days in 2007. I have heard that the park is open like 150 days or something. I thought I heard that, but it might be wrong.

Amazing actor

I wonder what they are gonna do now

Ilovthevu' - February 12, 2008 08:49 PM (GMT)
I think the reason why we got the mouse coaster in the location it is, is first off that Shapiro wants to save money. So, he gets rid of Theatre Royale without a blacklash. He used that theatre for an indoor ride without building a new building for the line. I believe he's going to build a new building for the actual ride though. It saves him money. The reason I think he did it this year, and not next is kind of obvious. The movie is coming out, and Great Adventure really needed a new ride to replace Robin and Chiller.

jonrev - April 8, 2008 01:07 AM (GMT)
Judging from what I saw last week, it would take a miracle to finish everything in about 2 weeks. My guess is it will open the second weekend in May.

sixflagsgurneeboy - April 8, 2008 01:17 AM (GMT)
^Agreed!

Ilovthevu' - April 8, 2008 02:49 AM (GMT)
I think it will be open later than this May 17th they are saying. I don't believe they have the whole building outside walls up yet. That's just part of the project. They need to put the roller coaster up inside it along with extensive testing. Some coasters I heard they have a month of testing.

These are bigger ones though, but you would think they would have a lot of testing for this ride too. It might not take long to actually put it up, but testing, and the special effects working is what's going to take longer.
